Day 1 (October 31):
Today is the first day the winterim, and the class was Service Learning. In the morning, I went to school at 8:10. I met Mr. Cob, then went to Mr. Graham's and Mrs. Ariss's room. Just a moment, we would have first class in the room. So I sat on a free seat, and listened to the teachers. The class began and Mr. Graham took us to read the book about, The Complete Guide to Service Learning. We read from the 8th to 12th page of the book in the 1st Chapter in the class. It talked about what was the service learning or how many kinds of? Did students need to do or not? Can it be used with everyone? Or just of older kids? Or gifted kids? I felt it was important for everyone and everyone needed to do. Because there were somethings you cannot learn from schools and they were skills to community needs. If you ask me what did I do in the first day, later I will show you.
At 9 o'clock, the first speaker came in the room, he was a writer, his name is Dan Wilkins. When he came in the classroom, he was in the wheelchair. He talked about himself, happened in his life. During the first 1.5 hours he talked some short stories. He was so funny, he made us laugh, and made us be interest to listen to him. I thought it was good for me to improved my listening. However something I could not listen clearly. And some of classmates asked some questions, but I did not. Because I was I not sure it was not on point or not. Now, let me talked about what I did in the servicing time. I didn't know where I went. We just sat in the car then went down., I did not know what did girls do during this time. These are just for boys, we put mattresses together and moved cabinets to the first floor. If you thought it was easy, you are wrong. Because there were many things, moved it so hard. Luckily, we just did an hour, then went back school. I maybe forget something. Excuse me, Mr. Graham, did you say that was indirect service, right? I think it is. I think I need to do and study like this. Because it is a skill for live in the community or the world. Okay, finally, I hope everyone have a good time during the winterim.
