Abi: Journal 4
Day 4 (November 3):
Today we visited the Ronald McDonald house. Initially I didn't even know what the organization was, but once we got there I was shocked at how much it could impact families. We found out that the Ronald McDonald house was actually a resting place for Parent's of sick children in the hospital. I thought this was a very unique idea that could really ease the stress off of parents. When I first stepped into the house, I felt at home. It had an amazing, cozy feeling that words cannot describe. If I was a guest, I would definitely feel comfortable in that environment. Everything was very clean, and apparently cleaning is al they ever do! We split into 3 groups of 4 and cleaned everywhere. From raking leaves, to enveloping letters, we were very busy. I saw about 3 families today, and I felt really sad every time I walked past them. I got a vibe that didn't feel so nice. Overall, I think that the families there had a lot on their shoulders and didn't come off very friendly. I respect that, and I felt sorry for them. Even though our work there was little, I felt that this was a good experience and would love to come back and help.
