Day 3 (November 2):
Today was a relatively exciting day! When the speaker came, I didn’t think much of her except what being a nun is. I thought and thought but then she started talking and I payed attention. I like what padua is doing with their part of our community. I liked how they are trying so many things and are being so thoughtful on what may be successful to reach the younger people of their area. And with all of these things that they are running, I was amazed that they were doing it all off of grants and donations. Very much like Cherry Street but smaller. I was also very amazed on how much they care for all of the people down there. They have a school program to better the kids that were suspended! I was surprised when I heard that.

Later in the day we went back to Life Bridge Center in downtown. I could tell that the girls did not want to fold clothes but they did it with a servants heart anyway! Even if they didn’t want or think of a way to make their job fun. But us guys took our job and made it such a fun experience! We had to move mattresses from the second floor to the third where the U.T. foreign students ministry was at work or their storage area that would be used. I never thought you could make moving about 60+ mattresses into an elevator then back out again could be so fun! We took it seriously even though it was a blast. I saw Isaak, Osama, Mr. Graham, Sachin, and Wind pushing themselves without complaining but instead wanting to do more! I guess there was a spark that showed them and myself that this can be what the difference is between community service and service learning. It was very student driven and Mr. Graham just helped keep the pace!

Well done, Nick! It's Osama though not Sammer.
ReplyDeleteI still like both sides of him! No matter who he may be, I still appreciate the hard work he put in yesterday!
