Day 6 (November 7):
Today we visited the Impact Products Headquarters. There, Mr. Findlay and some other business men talked to us. It really did not relate to services or anything like that. They did not really talk about what they did to help, although I know they were selling products that were environment friendly. They spoke to us from a business standpoint and it was more like a lesson of how they got to that point as a company. Dr. Findlay had received so many awards for helping the community. He could of spoke to us more about service learning and things we should help the community with. However, every time we tried asking a question to relate it to that he would try to relate it back to business and running or working in a company. They probably misunderstood the purpose of our visit. Anyways, we did learn some valuable information. Mainly, we learned about what makes a company a good sustainable company. This is really good to know in the future. I know I will end up using a lot of that information. Just walking into Impact Products was a great example. You could tell how much of a good environment they had in the business. Every worker or manager were so close to each other and had such a strong relationship. It really felt like I was visiting a family at their house. That really stressed the point of integrity in building a company. All in all it was a very meaningful experience, and I wouldn't mind returning to talk to Mr. Findlay. He is a great example of a very successful life.
