Day 6 (November 7):
Today, we went to Impact Product and heard from several of its employees, and also from Dr. Findlay. Dr. Findlay himself was very interesting. He was a very fun guy and he had a sense of humor. It was great being around him and he was an excellent role model to me.Dr. Findlay was very modest about his own achievements and was a very decent guy. He himself is a philanthropist and his cause was very relevant to community service/service learning/our winterim. It was great that he had started the company, but I felt like Impact Product itself was irrelevant to we were supposed to be learning. I think that our visit might have been a tad bit more meaningful if Dr. Findlay was the only one talking. Everyone else there gave us wonderful advice - wonderful yet irrelevant. Dr. Findlay was an amazing person and a wonderful, successful role model. Impact Product, from what I perceived, was a very successful company that made cleaning supplies. It was slightly confusing when the employees told us about it, and I think that's because they all assumed we knew something about it (which we didn't). All in all, it was an interesting visit.
