Hedyeh: Journal 10

Day 10 (November 11):

Today, we went to the Swan Creek Retirement Home. Also, presentations were due! We were at the retirement home for about half an hour or so, and we started out by serving dessert and drinks to the seniors. They really seemed to enjoy our presence. They made some jokes while I went around to them that were really quite funny. They were really nice and open and friendly to us. A, we had prepared a game of Jeopardy for the seniors to play about a bunch of different wars. I honestly didn't expect for any of them to know any of the answers, but there wasn't a single one they didn't know! It was amazing! Some of them had a great sense of humor and made some really current jokes. (Oh, and by the way - cheers to Isaac for saving our sorry butts with his Jeopardy game)

Afterwards, we sang the national anthem, and they sang along with much enthusiasm. In fact, they drowned us out! I think they really enjoyed our time there. There was even one lady who did the really high part, and she wasn't half bad, either. There was such a variety of voices that we sounded really good together.

Before and after we went the retirement home, we all gave our presentations. I think they were all really good, and everyone had some really creative ideas for their interactive section, especially Abi and May. I think the most effective ones were the ones that had us out of our seats or excited in some form or another.
