Today we started on our Action Plans, and eventually helped each other come up with ideas. Everyone got an idea of what they were going to do, and I'm excited to see how it turns out. In the afternoon, we went to the Padua Center to help organize, tutor, and help Sister Virginia with the Environmental aspect of the program. A big portion of the group went to clear out the library on the 3rd floor, since they were re-doing their floors. People were sorting books, moving chairs, shelves, and couches to different rooms. Since there was only one child today who was there because of suspension, only one person got to tutor her. Hedeyeh and I worked on a Prezi presentation for Sister Virginia. She wanted us to come up with a presentation that described the environmental aspect of their curriculum. Nora was working with a girl named Jessica*, and after Hedyeh and I got done with putting our ideas down, we went to check up on them. I met Jessica*, and remembered what Sister Virginia told us about her: she was sassy. Jessica* wanted to play a puzzle game, and I really got to know her within a time span of only maybe 10 minutes. I noticed that she wasn't sassy at all to Nora, Hedeyeh or me, but she was to older people. I can understand that, because she really wanted to work with females that sort of understood where she was coming from. Later, when Hedeyeh and I went back to work, a man that worked there was telling us about Jessica*. He told us that she was actually a foster child, that has moved in and out of houses 4-5 times. I was shocked, because she was so young! This was a really good experience, and I really hope I can tutor the next time we go.
*names are changed.
