Sachin: Journal 17

Day 17 (November 22):

Today we assembled Thanksgiving Dinner boxes, for Cherry Street Mission, for people who couldn't afford them. To see how many people we would be helping, and how many bags we assembled was amazing. We really helped a lot of people. I realized that not everybody could afford the have Thanksgiving, and, being in America, society would probably look down on those people. In an indirect way, we helped people be proud of themselves, and not ashamed of the predicament.

While we were there, Nick and I met a really nice lady. She worked at Applebees. After we left we went to applebees, and she was our waitress. She came to Cherry Street, helped lots of people, and then went straight to work. She went out of her way to help people, even if it was an inconvenience to her. Everybody in society say that nobody helps and gives to charity. While we were there, though, tons of people were helping. Even if everybody in the world doesn't help poverty, the few people who do make a big difference.
