Hedyeh: Journal 16
Today, we went to Cherry St. Mission. First, we went to the same place we went to cook last time. There, we formed a line and transported all the boxes of cans and such from the building to the truck. After the first load was in, we drove to the LifeBridge Center, where we cleaned, sorted, and packaged the cans that we had moved there. I was really surprise at the sheer amount of stuff that they had - both the variety and the amount of each thing. I think there was about a thousand of each type of thing, and a lot of different things! We worked really hard - we cleaned each can, stacked them, and them put them in palettes. I was surprised at the inefficiency of the whole process. It seemed like we were cleaning each can at least twice because it was kind of unorganized. Thinking about the importance of what we were doing, however, was interesting - thinking that there are people around Thanksgiving who don't have the kind of meal that we do - but more importantly, how important it is to help. The Cherry St. Mission is a really important organization to the Toledo community.
